How to Make More Room in Your RV’s Storage

RV storage is usually at a prime, especially when the whole family is on the trip or when you want to get a bunch of friends together for a hunting or fishing trip. However, you can make more of the storage space you do have so you can store more than you thought possible.

Interior Storage

If you have taller wardrobes, add shelves in the bottom so that you have more storage under the items that you hang. You could also add a second hanging rod so that you can hang more clothes in one wardrobe.

For overhead cabinets, add a shelf so that you can store more. To keep items on the shelf from sliding off, install a tension rod across the front of the shelf. You’ll be able to store twice the amount of canned goods or containers of food. Just leave one cabinet in its original form for taller items such as tall cans of spaghetti sauce or the taller bottles of condiments.

You could also add additional storage by hanging racks on the insides of cabinet doors for items such as foils, wraps and bags. Hooks inside cabinet doors could hold pots and pans; and you could install a small drawer under the table to hold small items including tableware.

Buy collapsible bowls, bins and other items so that you have tons of space when they’re not in use. They’ll store flat in a cabinet until you’re ready to use them. And, you could hang hammocks under the bunks in bunkhouse models so that those sleeping in those bunks can store personal belongings.

Exterior Storage

Many RVs feature large pass-through storage that look like you’ll never fill them up. However, once you start packing things in the basement storage, it seems to get small quickly. Mount holders on the wall for fishing poles to keep them up off the floor. Use crates to store things – you’ll be able to stack crates, creating more space. Just remember – when you run out of horizontal space, just go up!
